A quieting yin yoga practice in preparation for the long, dark days of winter
Within nature are already all the answers, we just have to be quiet enough to listen and be empty enough to be filled. Neil Gumenick
The energy of winter is deep and potent. It is the season to rest and ‘fill our cup’ as we connect to the core of our being and to untouched emotions.
Winter is ruled by the Water element, one of the most essential substances of life, which stores our reserves of energy and embodies flexibility and force. Its adaptive nature allows us to ‘go with the flow’ as we move more easily around obstacles and forge new paths ahead.
As we hunker down in the colder darker months, we can feel a sense of isolation and loneliness and our fast-paced lifestyles can easily deplete the Water element and especially our kidneys.
This nourishing workshop will begin with some gentle guided meditation to settle the body. After which, yin yoga postures, held for several minutes, will target the deep fascia network in the body helping us slow down and stay present. Postures will strengthen the Kidney and Bladder energy channels associated with the Water element, as we practice stillness and conservation to relieve fatigue, reduce stress and ease fear and anxiety.
Open to all. No previous experience of meditation of yoga required.
